South Suburban Center for Exceptional Learners

Camelot Education partners with public school districts to provide academic and therapeutic services to students ages 3 to 21 with an array of exceptional needs. Camelot’s South Suburban Center for Exceptional Learners is a therapeutic day school designed to specifically serve children that require full-day, concentrated support, such as those with:

■ Autism Spectrum Disorder
■ Specific Learning Disabilities
■ Developmental Delay
■ Intellectual Disability
■ Multiple Disabilities
■ Emotional Disability
■ Traumatic Brain Injury
■ Other Health Impairments

Academic and vocational outcomes are measured using IEP progress monitoring, MAP Assessment data, PEAK, and Vocational and Community Assessments. Technology is integrated into daily programming through SMART boards, iPads, and Chromebooks. Extended School Year (ESY) available.

SED Program:

The Social/Emotional Disorder (SED) Program offers supportive classrooms and a positive peer culture model for students with both externalizing and internalizing behaviors and conflicts.

Multi-Needs Program:

This program provides a low staff to student ratio for students with significant needs. Staff utilize evidenced-based practices tailoring each student’s educational experience based on their needs. Supports include: sensory integration activities/diets, Visual Structure, ABA/Discrete Trial, PECS/augmentative communication, Adaptive PE, PEAK, vocational training, functional academics curriculum and community-based learning. The life skills curriculum provides instruction which focuses on communication, daily living tasks, safety, housing and community resources, money management, self-care, behavior management, social development, vocational, work and study skills.
